Community organizations are built on passion. They are driven by leaders who see a need and work tirelessly to meet it, often with limited resources and capacity. But passion alone isn’t enough to create long-term, scalable impact. Good intentions need strategy. Strong programs need systems, funding, and sustainability. That’s where NURA comes in.
We specialize in helping nonprofits and mission-driven organizations go beyond good ideas to great execution—developing sustainable models, increasing efficiency, and amplifying their reach. One of our most meaningful partnerships has been with Project 70805, a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit whose mission is to promote social and economic growth in North Baton Rouge. Over the past few years, we’ve worked with them in different capacities—helping to rethink their holiday giving program, restructure their annual fundraiser, and develop long-term frameworks that continue to serve their mission today.
For years, Project 70805 hosted a bulk Christmas gift giveaway, providing free presents to families in need. While the intention was pure, the execution had room for growth. The event often resulted in long lines, logistical challenges, and a lack of personalization for the families receiving support. In 2022, Project 70805’s founder approached NURA with a question: How can we make this better?
We introduced The Wishlist Initiative—a reimagined approach that prioritized dignity, choice, and direct impact. Instead of a mass giveaway, the program shifted to a nomination-based model, allowing community members to nominate deserving families in need. Those selected weren’t just given gifts—they were taken on a sponsored Walmart shopping spree, where they could pick out Christmas presents, household essentials, groceries, and items that mattered most to their families.
NURA’s role in this transformation included:
The results? A more thoughtful, impactful, and empowering way to give back. Families received exactly what they needed, and Project 70805’s board saw how a strategic approach could enhance their mission without requiring significantly more resources. The initiative continued in 2023, following the framework we developed, proving that good systems create lasting impact.
Project 70805’s Capital City Car Show is more than just an event for auto enthusiasts—it’s a key fundraising pillar for the organization, helping to sustain its programs throughout the year. The event brings together car collectors, local businesses, and community members for a family-friendly experience featuring vehicle showcases, awards, vendor markets, and entertainment.
By 2022, the event had grown in popularity but lacked a clear structure for long-term sustainability. Project 70805 brought in NURA to optimize operations, increase efficiency, and scale its fundraising potential.
Our team provided:
By systemizing the event, we helped Project 70805 increase its fundraising capacity, attract more participants, and set up a replicable framework that could be used year after year. In 2023, they brought us back to execute the 7th annual event, reinforcing the power of strong planning and strategic partnership.
We believe that impact isn’t measured by the size of a budget, but by the thoughtfulness of the strategy behind it. Not every organization has the resources to launch large-scale campaigns or produce elaborate events—but that doesn’t mean they can’t create meaningful change. Our work with Project 70805 is a testament to how smart strategy, streamlined logistics, and intentional partnerships can amplify impact in ways that are both sustainable and scalable. Our goal is always the same: to help mission-driven organizations do more with what they have and extend their reach to those who need it most. Because at the end of the day, real impact isn’t about how much you spend—it’s about how well you serve.
